Meet the leadership team

Mr. Cunningham joined AIB in October 2024. He previously held CxO roles at BSF in Saudi Arabia, ADCB in the UAE, and Barclays across emerging markets. He has built banks across the MEA region and advocates digital financial inclusion. He holds a BSc Hons in business from Liverpool Business School and a postgraduate degree from Durham University.

Mr. Fayzi joined AIB at inception in 2004 as head of IT and later CIO. Previously he was IT manager at Afghanistan Reconstruction Company. He holds an MSc in electronics telecommunications and MBA from Istanbul Technical University, Turkey and Warwick Business School UK.

Mr. Jha is Chief Financial Officer since 2010. He holds a bachelor's degree in commerce and is a chartered accountant with more than 20 years' experience, mainly in banking. Previously he was senior vice president at Dresdner Bank in New Delhi and head of accounts and taxation at Bank of Tokyo Mitsubishi UFJ in New Delhi.

Mr. Haidar Ali is a banker with more than 18 years of experience before joining AIB. He began at Bank Alfalah and worked across branch banking, credit, compliance, and risk in Pakistan and abroad. He led risk at FINCA Microfinance Bank and was chief credit officer at U Microfinance Bank. He holds an MBA from the University of Peshawar.

Mr. Mir began his AIB career in 2006, holding roles managing electronic channels, head of retail banking, and head of strategic planning. Appointed chief strategy officer in 2024, he led financial crime compliance from 2015 to 2024. He holds a BSc in electrical engineering from TU Delft and a master's in international business economics and management from KU Leuven.

Mr. Azimi is appointed as CCO in 2024. he has over 15 years banking experience serving 10 years in compliance roles and rest in other functions of the bank. Mr. Azimi is a member of the Association of Certified AML Specialist and holds the certification ‘’CAMS’’. Mr. Azimi holds MBA degree from the University of Liverpool and BBA from the Kardan University.

Mr. Lockie is chief business officer, joining AIB in 2025. He led teams in emerging markets and the UK with ABK Kuwait, AUB Egypt, and Barclays. He holds an MBA in Chartered Banking from Bangor University and an MSc in Cultural Leadership from the University of South Wales. He is a fellow of the Chartered Banking Institute and Chartered Management Institute.

Mr. Hanif Khan is chief risk officer at AIB with more than 13 years in control functions, risk management, compliance, and internal audit. He holds a bachelor’s in commerce and a master in public administration finance from Peshawar, Pakistan, and is CAMS certified.

Mr. Painda leads internal audit at AIB with 18 years across electronic banking, branch operations, retail, branch management, credit, and audit. He drives governance, risk, and control, and advances best practice and process optimization. He holds a bachelor’s in business administration and is a member of IIA and ACFE.

Mr. Ahmad Jawid Wahidi is head of wholesale banking at AIB with 19 years in banking. He holds an MBA and a BBA and relevant certifications. He improves operational efficiency and builds high value client relationships, partnering with international aid groups, diplomatic missions, and corporates to deliver results.

Mr. Abdul Wasi Haidari is legal head and general counsel at AIB with deep expertise in legal affairs, Islamic banking, and credit. He has shaped policies, SOPs, and product documents and advised corporate, SME, and retail clients. He holds master’s and bachelor’s degrees in law plus diplomas and certificates in banking and finance.

Mr. Ramin Yousofi is head of customer experience and digital at AIB with 18 years in banking. He leads the bank’s technology vision and digital banking across channels and cards. He holds a bachelor’s in business administration and certifications in strategic planning, innovation, digital product risk management, and compliance.

Mr. Mohammad Mansoor Enayati is head of consumer banking and general branches management at Afghanistan International Bank, overseeing consumer services and all branch operations. With the bank since 2006, he brings operations and customer relations expertise and holds an MBA.

Mr. Samizada has more than 13 years in banking with strong experience in human resources, administration, and executive support. He holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in business administration and multiple credentials including CHRMP Foundation, and diplomas in banking and finance, HRM, and accounting and finance.
